WGM Renewables become a supplier on Scotland Excel’s Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Framework
WGM Renewables is a business unit within WGM Engineering – a family-owned business, based in Glasgow, employing 360 people. We are a self-delivery company, offering the complete range of engineering services in-house, right from Consultancy and Solution Design through Technical Design, Civil/Electrical works, Bay Markings, Signage and Certification.
All of us at WGM Renewables are thrilled to announce we are one of 18 suppliers on Scotland Excel’s new Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure framework. The framework will enable councils and other public bodies to source, install, and maintain EV charging points in Scotland. The national electric charging point contract will support the phasing out of diesel and petrol vehicles, contributing to achieving zero emissions by 2045.
Scotland Excel is a non-profit organisation funded by Scotland’s 32 local authorities and are the Centre of Procurement Expertise for the local government sector. Contracts are designed to maximise the value of council spending through savings, efficiency and innovation.
Julie Welsh, Chief Executive of Scotland Excel, commented on the EV Charging Framework:
“I welcome the launch of this new contract that will give councils and other public organisations the support they need to efficiently source the range of products and services needed for the supply, installation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
With sustainability at its core, this framework will underpin the Scottish Government’s drive for net zero by 2045. It will support councils in their efforts to reduce emissions from council fleets by phasing out new petrol and diesel cars in the coming years.
It will also bring significant opportunities for the businesses that have secured a place on the framework, which includes 18 Scottish suppliers – 12 of which are Scottish SMEs.”
WGM Renewables are delighted to be part of this innovative framework supporting Scotland’s transition to zero emission road transport. We have begun deploying EV charging infrastructure for several of the Scotland Excel participants and are looking forward to working with more Local Authorities and other public sector organisations to deploy EV charging across Scotland.
